Happy Sunday, everyone! Are you searching for something to do? Skip the mountain of laundry and go for a Sunday drive. Living in a rural area, I love traveling the back roads and seeing new things.
After a long week, a simple Sunday drive can be a relaxing and refreshing way to unwind. Here are some tips to make the most of your Sunday drive.

1. Pick a Scenic Route
- Choose country roads, coastal highways, or tree-lined streets.
- Look for areas with lakes, hills, or charming small towns.
- Check out scenic overlooks. Here in Michigan, there are signs at rest stops for scenic views. As a photographer, I love stopping to get landscape photos.
2. Set the Mood with Music
- Create a playlist of relaxing or nostalgic songs.
- Consider instrumental or acoustic tracks for a peaceful atmosphere.
- If you are traveling solo, listen to an audio book or podcast.

3. Plan Light Stops
- Stop at local markets or roadside attractions.
- Stop at roadside stands. I love little roadside stands filled with fresh fruits or vegetables.
- Bring a small picnic to enjoy at a road side stop.
4. Go Old School
- Leave the GPS off and rely on an old-fashioned maps
- Follow road signs.
- Yes, disconnect and enjoy the simplicity of the moment. But bring your electronic devices for emergencies. Or if you cannot find your way back to a main road.
5. Bring Company or Go Solo
- Take a loved one or friend to enjoy light conversation.
- Or, drive alone for quiet reflection and peace.
6. Time it Right
- Go in the morning for fresh air or late afternoon for golden hour views.
- Avoid heavy traffic times to keep the drive smooth and relaxing.

7. Drive Slowly and Enjoy the Journey
- Don’t rush—let yourself cruise at a comfortable speed.
- Take in the sights, sounds, and smells around you.
- Stop and take lots of photos.
Sometimes the best moments come from unplanned detours, so enjoy the adventure! Safe travels!
