I do love to travel out of state. But, I also have a love affair with my home state of Michigan. There is so much to see and visit. Day trips, a weekend get away, or an afternoon exploring, there is always something to do. Michigan offers a variety of travel options to enjoy the end of summer. If you are searching for ideas, check out the following.

Beach Destinations

1. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore: Enjoy hiking, swimming, and the stunning dunes.
2. Mackinac Island: Experience a car-free island with bike rides, horse-drawn carriages, and historical sites. Do not forget to buy some fudge. Delicious!
3. Silver Lake Sand Dunes: Ideal for off-roading, swimming, and enjoying the dunes.

Outdoor Adventures

1. Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore: Go kayaking, hiking, or take a scenic boat tour. I highly recommend the scenic boat tour. There is so much to see, the tour guide provides information about the waterfalls, and the rock formations. It is a beautiful site.
2. Tahquamenon Falls State Park: Hike to see the impressive waterfalls and enjoy the surrounding nature.
3. Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park: Explore the wilderness with its scenic trails, waterfalls, and Lake of the Clouds.

City Escapes

1. Traverse City: Visit wineries, breweries, and enjoy the vibrant downtown area.
2. Ann Arbor: Explore the university town with its unique shops, restaurants, and cultural attractions.
3. Detroit: Discover the revitalized downtown, museums, and enjoy a Tigers game at Comerica Park.

1. Grand Rapids: Visit the John Ball Zoo, Frederik Meijer Gardens, and downtown market.
